Chwarae Teg is the charity inspiring, leading and delivering gender equality in Wales. Since 1992, they’ve been working to ensure that women in Wales can enter the workplace, develop their skills and build rewarding careers.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything they do. Which is why I have enjoyed working with them for the past 6 years!

From supporting the organisation with various awareness raising campaigns, helping to get the messages out there and call for change through impactful designs that help them stand out in Wales and the World.

The brand has evolved over the years, the colour palette has always been that of the classic suffragette colours, but besides that I have introduced all contemporary visual elements, including bespoke illustrations to provide that approachable feel to a range of audiences.

Designing the research reports that highlight the inequalities of women in Wales has been particularly valuable to the Chwarae Teg team, ensuring the documents are easy to read in print and digitally, as well as any supporting social media content and events materials.

Creating the artwork for the office refurbishment has been a highlight for me. Collaboratively, we developed some statements of what a Feminist Wales would look like in order to generate some powerful concepts to set the tone of the brand for visitors and staff - I then developed the statements into a map of Wales. The design is bilingual - it was a challenge to fit the lines around the contours of the country (in both English and Welsh!) but also really rewarding. This design has since gone on to be wall art and greetings cards.

Additionally, I created the women illustration as a privacy divider on the glass office panels. Capturing the diversity and unity of the women of Wales, in a contemporary and bold illustration style.

Illustrating the new organisational values really brought them to life. Each value had a bespoke vector illustration. These were used to create posters, screen savers and also feature in presentations and relevant reports.

The charity has begun to hold some fundraising activities and campaigns which I have created designs to support them in their efforts, including digital advertising and also some physical merchandise.
